When selecting your vanity top, it’s important to consider your cabinet layout to ensure your vanity does not obstruct the opening of your cabinet drawers or doors.
For vanity tops with a thicker edge, it is especially important that you’re checking to make sure your cabinet will still open. Vanity tops with thicker edges (greater than ¾” thick) will have the edge fold over and cover part of your cabinet. This is fine if there is no door/drawer to open, but it can cause a big issue if it obstructs the door/cabinets.
How Can I Ensure My Vanity Won’t Block my Cabinets?
The first way to prevent your vanity top from obstructing your cabinets is by inspecting your cabinets. The photos below demonstrate whether you may have a potential issue if you don’t address it properly.
When ordering a vanity top from Mr.Marble, your quote will say “Add Block” or “No Block”.
Blocking is added to the underside of your vanity top if we know that your cabinet may be obstructed by the vanity top’s edge. You won’t see this blocking when it’s installed and not all vanity tops require it.
This blocking is added so that the vanity top sits proud on top of the cabinet, rather than recessed or flushed in which will obstruct the drawers or door. Blocking ensures that you can have a thicker edge without obstructing the opening of your cabinet drawers or doors.
The photos below are photos where blocking was required and was added.
Not all vanities will need to have this blocking added, but it’s important to know your cabinet layouts to ensure you’re ordering the right Mr.Marble vanity to compliment your final bathroom look!
